SAIC plans free health fair

Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) will host a free Community Health and Wellness Fair Friday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Johnson Space Center’s Gilruth Center Alamo Ballroom on Space Center Boulevard.

Sponsored by SAIC, with support from Kelsey Seybold Clinic, the event provides members of the community an opportunity to have their blood sugar checked, learn from various exhibitors about health and wellness topics such as home health services, spinal care, mental health, financial wellness, and nutrition.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Nov. 9 event follows the success of SAIC’s first free Back-to-School Vaccination Fair for children on Aug. 18.  Sponsored by SAIC, with support from Kelsey Seybold Clinic and in conjunction with Clear Creek Independent School District Cares, the event provided parents an opportunity to get their children vaccinated in time to begin the school year.  In addition to free vaccinations for students to meet the 2012-2013 Texas minimum state vaccine requirements,  the event provided needed school supplies including markers, pencils, glue, composition paper and folders.

“Our McWhirter families are grateful to SAIC for the opportunity to give their children the gift of good health going into a new school year,” said Dr. Michael, Marquez, McWhirter Elementary principal.

SAIC’s healthcare solutions assist customers to deliver care more efficiently, improve care quality and safety, expedite biomedical research, enhance the regulatory process, and to better protect the health of national and global populations.  SAIC takes responsibility for improving the quality of life of the communities in which we live and work. “We’re excited to help our community learn more about how to achieve their health and wellness goals, and we hope many people come out to the Gilruth Center to take advantage of the event,” said Linda Howard,  SAIC senior vice president and acting business unit general manager.
