Beating the Heat

Summer is here! The activities of summer can be hard on hair color! According to stylist Bruce Grossman, the best thing to do for outdoor activities is to keep you hair covered with a hat. “When that isn’t feasible, there are products that promote UVA and UVB protectors. I would use shampoo, conditioner, and styling products with these protectors,” says Grossman.  It requires all of the products so that the protectors are layered on the hair. Every major product line will clearly identify these qualities, and yes, even some hair sprays. One of the best lines for this is L’Oreal Kerastase. There is even oil for sun and water exposure. This will also protect the condition of your hair. You may want to even try the Philip Swimcap, Straight Hair and Preem Cream. Bruce Grossman is at Michaelyndon Salon and can be reached at 713-818-3303.

Model Couple

Channel 2 News Anchor Lauren Freeman knows a little something about make-up. After all she has to apply and re-apply make-up multiple times a day to be camera ready. And, it just so happens that her husband plastic surgeon, Dr Forrest Roth knows a little something about protecting your skin.  So together, they’ve handpicked and personally used every product that they sell in their West Avenue boutique, Cameo.  Their philosophy is to offer mineral make-up (Glo) and prescription skin care (Skin Ceuticals) products that prevent, protect and correct the skin without chemical fillers and other harmful ingredients found in many over the counter products.  For example, Skin Ceuticals sunscreens contains Zinc Oxide, the only UV filter spanning the full UVA/UVB spectrum, without the harmful parabans.  Furthermore, many of the Skin Ceuticals products also contain natural ingredients, such as plankton extract, that enhance their products. Dentist Trip in Luxury

Speaking of happenings at West Ave., going to the dentist just got a whole lot more pleasurable and luxurious with the opening of BRSH Dental, a next-generation luxury dental practice. Created by native Houstonian Dr. Melicia Tjoa, BRSH Dental turns the notion of going to the dentist on its head and then some. Upon entering the second-floor marble-encased doorway and into a waiting area that is more akin to a luxury hotel lobby than dentist office, a feeling of soothing calm overcomes any fear or drudgery traditionally associated with a trip to the dentist. For an appointment call 713-660-0966 or visit www.brsh.com.
