Sidewalk Ramp Repairs Scheduled at Clear Lake Intermediate School

The City of Houston Public Works and Engineering Department (PWE) will be working this week on sidewalk ramp repairs at Clear Lake Intermediate School — located at 15545 El Camino Real.

Residents can expect to see crews working in the area from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the project is completed on Thursday, June 30, weather permitting. During the project, drivers should expect to see intermittent lane closures, including the northbound gutter lane, and delays in the immediate area.

To ensure driver and worker safety, PWE will implement traffic control measures on site including traffic barrels, traffic cones, directional signage and flagmen. One lane will remain open at all times. Additionally, Councilman Dave Martin’s office has notified the Houston Police Department's Clear Lake Substation to request that officers monitor the location and assist with traffic control if necessary.

These repairs are a result of the El Camino Safe Sidewalk Project that was completed in December 2015 and requested by Martin, who used his Fiscal Year 2016 Council District Service Fund dollars to complete it. Following the project, the District E office received feedback from residents asking for four wheelchair ramps to be installed along the newly installed sidewalk. Martin worked proactively with the Public Works and Engineering Department to have the ramps constructed during the summer when school is not in session and to prevent any sort of major disruption to traffic flow.
