Seabrook streets getting a facelift

By Mary Alys Cherry

Road work ahead!

But for Seabrook residents, it’s good news. Never mind the inconvenience, they’ve been waiting a very long time and are happy to see the start of the Harris County Precinct 2 Road Improvements Project.

The following Seabrook streets are part of the project:

  • Second Street
  • N. Meyer Avenue
  • E. Meyer Avenue
  • Hammer Street
  • Logenberry Circle/Neal Drive/Sams Drive
  • Shady Lake Drive
  • Park Street
  • Pine Gully Road
  • Red Bluff Road
  • Todville Road

In 2012, Harris County Precinct 2 began the BetterStrees2Neighborhoods project, which preserves and maintains the existing asphalt streets in Seabrook neighborhoods. Funding for this project has also been allocated for 2013 as several neighborhood streets have gone two or three decades without being maintained or resurfaced.

While construction will be an inconvenience, the total project duration should only be 45 to 60 days, dependent upon the weather.

This is a short-term project that will create better streets for the future and ultimately lead to a safer and happier driving experience. “Harris County Precinct 2 is dedicated to providing infrastructure maintenance and service and hopes these projects will indeed produce better streets in Seabrook neighborhoods,” Commissioner Jack Morman said.  For more information, visit www.hcp2.com.

BetterStreets2Neighborhoods is not a City of Seabrook project.
