Police chase ends with 6 dead

Six people were killed when the driver of a Dodge Durango fleeing Dickinson Police ran a stop sign and struck a Honda Accord headed northbound on FM 646 in League City Sunday, Aug. 10 at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Four members of a League City family, including a teenager, were killed, as were two men in the fleeing Durango. They were identified as Rafael Guerrero, 41; his wife, Alejandra Guerrero, 38; their son, 15; and her brother, Gilberto Ortega Jr., 25. The two men in the Durango were identified as Juan Garcia Ahuezoteco, 23, who police said was driving the vehicle, and his passenger, Alejandro Molina.

League City Police Department said its officers received a call for assistance from Dickinson Police Department at the scene of the major accident. League City’s Accident Reconstruction Team and Crime Scene Investigators assisted.

“The accident occurred at the intersection of Ohio and FM 646 after a Dodge Durango fled from Dickinson Police, disregarded a stop sign, and struck a Honda Accord that was headed northbound on FM 646,” League City Police spokesperson Reagan Pena said.

FM 646 was closed for five hours as police and fire crews worked the accident, along with the Galveston County district attorney and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
