League City residents are being invited to kick off the Independence Day holiday a day early at the July 3 League City Fireworks Extravaganza at the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex, 1251 League City Parkway.
The free event, sponsored by AmeriWaste, will run from 6 to 10 p.m. and will feature a variety of food trucks, live music and entertainment, inflatables for kids, vendor booths, and a fireworks show that will start promptly at 9 p.m.
Families are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets. Coolers are welcome, but pop-up tents are not allowed. Public parking will be available at the Sportsplex on a first-come, first-served basis, and the city will also be providing free parking and shuttle service at Hometown Heroes Park from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Those interested in attending can download a map at www.leaguecity.com (map image attached) and those who would like to watch the fireworks remotely can download the Skywonder Pyrotechnics app on their mobile phone, and select “League City Fireworks” from available events.
July 4 Citizen Appreciation Day
On Thursday, July 4, come share your patriotic spirit with us as we recognize League City’s most valuable asset—our citizens. The 21st annual League City Citizen Appreciation Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hometown Heroes Park, located at 1001 E. League City Parkway. The free event will feature family-friendly activities including a petting zoo, live entertainment, face-painting, and moonwalks, as well as dunking booth with Council members and City staff.
At noon, in the circular driveway in front of Hometown Heroes, residents of all ages are invited to decorate their bike, stroller, scooter or wagon in patriotic colors and take part in a parade. The pool will be open as well, and the League City Council, Mayor, Parks Board, and City staff will be serving complimentary hot dogs, watermelon, and cotton candy.
