League City backs Ike Dike proposal

The League City Council has put its stamp of approval on a resolution supporting the proposed Ike Dike to protect the Houston-Galveston region from storm surge in the event the area is hit by a Category 3, 4 or 5 hurricane.

The item, put on the agenda by Mayor Tim Paulissen, won unanimous approval.

During the meeting, Councilman Dennis OKeeffe apologized for his part in a fist fight with Councilman Dan Becker at city hall that got the pair cited by League City Police for Disorderly Conduct-Fighting. “Our conduct was unprofessional and embarrassing to League City,” OKeeffe said, “I should have responded to an aggressive invitation to take it outside in a different manner.”
