CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare Invites the Community to the Annual Nun Run Motorcycle Ride, October 20

CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare announces the eighth annual Nun Run on Saturday, October 20 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The 50-mile, Blue Knight police-escorted motorcycle ride begins at the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word’s motherhouse, Villa de Matel located at, 6510 Lawndale St., and ends at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Galveston, 2109 Lockheed St.

Open to the community, the annual Nun Run fundraiser benefits the children and families of the CHRISTUS School Based Clinics. Each clinic offers a multitude of health related services including flu vaccines, health education, screenings and referrals for health conditions.

“We are thrilled to be hosting this event for the eighth straight year to support our school-based clinics in providing vital healthcare services to the underserved communities in Houston and south of the city,” said Sister Rosanne Popp, M.D. ”Last year we were able to provide healthcare to 4,900 children within our 11 clinics. This year, we have 15 clinics, allowing us to extend our services to more children in need. It is the support of the community members that allows us to continue our efforts, which is why we invite Houston area residents to help us meet our fundraising goal of $125,000.”

CHRISTUS Foundation for Healthcare’s school-based clinics and services are available in Houston, Dickinson, Bacliff and Bay Shores. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston schools currently served are Holy Ghost, Our Lady of Fatima (Galena Park), Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Resurrection School, St. Christopher, St. Pius V, St. Peter of the Apostle and St. Francis of Assisi.
