CCISD plans technology symposium for the community

Based on community interest, The Clear Creek School District will host a technology symposium to detail plans to improve wireless and computer access for students, including the use of tablet computers.

The technology symposium is open to all community members and will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, at Brookside Intermediate School in Friendswood, located at 3535 E. FM 528. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature Chief Technology Officer Kevin Schwartz.

CCISD hosted three town hall meetings last month to share information about the recommendations made by the CCISD Citizens Facility Advisory Committee, which included technology. Parents and community members indicated they wanted to know more about the future use of technology in our schools.  The symposium will address the implementation of computer tablets and other technology tools as proposed by the citizen committee.

Information regarding student use and teacher professional development is also on the agenda for the evening. The goal is to give parents and the community a clear direction of where Clear Creek ISD is headed in the area of preparing students for the 21st century.

A full list of the committee’s recommendations can be found at www.ccisd.net/recommendations.
